Nebraska Wind Sculpture

The 500 Mile Sculpture Garden project (I-80 Sculpture project) was concieved in 1973 as a project of the Nebraska American Bicentennial Commission and was dedicated in 1976. Eight large public art sculpures were commmissioned and spaced along the state's length of the I-80. The purposed of the project were to celebrate the nation's bicentennial by providing Nebraskans and visitors access to some of the best sculptures of the time outside of museum walls and to contribute to Nebraska'a cultural heritage.
